Welcome to The PJ Adventure!

We are Philip Pfanner and Julia Frantz, longtime Oregonians, runners, hikers, and lovers of the outdoors. Since hiking the Pacific Crest Trail from Mexico to Canada in 2014, we have become hooked on long-distance hiking. This year, we are hiking the Continental Divide Trail, which traverses the spine of the Rocky Mountains via New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana.

We were grateful for the support of YAMA Mountain Gear and the mYAMAdventure program during our PCT hike, and we’re extremely excited to be using our Yama Cirriform tent again on the CDT!!

In our normal lives, Phil is an Emergency Room RN and Julia is a freelance violinist and violin teacher (who also dabbles in arts administration).

  1. Julia,
Your dad relayed your most recent post. Congratulations on making it through the desert and into the Sierras. A section of your reflections caught my eye and I plan to use it as the center piece for my comments in the July/August issue of United’s newsletter. I hope you are OK with that.
All the best to you and Philip

    • Hi Pastor Tom! We are about to get back on the trail but I have a bit of remaining cell service now. Great to hear from you! Of course, feel free to use anything you want from the blog, and pass on to United members if you’d like. Hope all is well, thinking of you and everyone at United.
